To bring vintage eyewear to Minneapolis and St. Paul, Spectacle Shoppe founder David Ulrich started by buying inventories from closed factories in Europe and the U.S. He then traveled to the fashion capitals of the world and sold the more unusual pieces, 50 or so at a time. He realized his vintage eyewear was being bought by the leading design houses who redesigned the frames to make up their boutique lines.
